Job Description

This job requires the incumbent to:
Investigate complaints of discrimination, victimization or offensive behavior as are lodged with the Equal Opportunity Commission. 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Counsel clients on available resources;
  • Explains procedures, rights and responsibilities;
  • Manages assigned caseload, prepares narrative and statistical reports, documents and correspondence;
  • Collects, preserves, identifies and records evidence as court exhibits;
  • Creates charts, timelines, graphs and diagrams for court presentations;
  • Processes complaints-investigates and produces evidence;
  • Investigates the factual basis of complaints in a neutral manner; and
  • Conducts field visits when required.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of basic functions of public service systems and social service systems; 
  • An understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism and its implications for the private and public sectors would be an asset; and
  • Knowledge of basic investigative procedures and techniques.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to complete assignments without close supervision;
  • Ability to understand and apply laws, rules and written directions;
  • Ability to research, report and compile information;
  • Ability to use computer systems for the production of charts, diagrams and gathering of information;
  • Ability to interview a variety of people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and with varied temperaments;
  • Ability to understand programme objectives in relation to department goals and procedures;
  • Ability to deal firmly and fairly with clients;
  • Ability to establish and maintain co-operative working relationships;
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and document actions taken;
Experience and Training
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline. The degree should comprise of disciplines such as Sociology, Research Methods, Public Sector Management and Security Administration.
  • A Diploma in Security Administration and Management or any equivalent combination of knowledge, competencies, qualifications and experience. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
